An ApplicationIt's amazing (1KI 14:2) how non-believers think they can get away with tricking God. It didn't work here, and Jesus didn't fall for it either (MT 7:21-23). This attempt at deception is dismissed as stupidity, but the sin of disobedience is serious. / 1KI 14:9-10 are two verses for the history books. We don't want this said of us. But non-believers won't repent regardless of the cost (REV 9:20-21, 16:9-11). Back in JDG 2:1-3 the Israelites messed up royally by adopting the local gods rather...

Here God treats the king like a man and punishes him accordingly because his personal sin has set all Israel on a path of disobedience that will last over 300 years and only end in the destruction of their nation. / 1KI 14:4 must be why Ahijah was an exception to 2CH 11:13-16. / 1KI 14:6 generally God is agreeable when wives obey their husbands until that means disobeying God (EPH 5:22-24, ACT 5:29).
